Christmas in a Winter Wonderland

Our destinations are perfectly situated to give you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights, but their northerly position also means they receive a superb covering of snow during the winter months. It’s no surprise then, that these locations go hand-in-hand with a Christmas holiday. Picture crisp white snow, a star-filled sky, reindeer, log cabins and frosted trees – the landscape in many of our destinations looks like it has been plucked straight from a Christmas card.

Our Christmas Northern Lights experiences at The Aurora Zone have been designed to take you into the very heart of this winter scenery and embrace everything the festive season entails, from delicious speciality food to trying your hand at popular activities such as husky sleddingsnowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Of course, we keep you well away from the Santa crowds, meaning that you get to see your chosen destination at its festive best.

So, why not escape the usual Christmas stresses and say goodbye to last-minute present buying, busy roads and too much food and drink, by booking one of our wonderful Christmas Northern Lights holidays?

Aurora Zone

A Christmas filled with experiences

Whilst you should, of course, find some time to relax during your festive break we know that most people will want to really make the most of their time. That’s why we offer a range of trips that take full advantage of the Arctic playground that winter brings.

The deep layer of snow in our destinations is in no way comparable to the grey slush we get here in the UK, and the locals really do make the most of these conditions – playing in the snow on cross-country skissnowmobilessnowshoes and husky sleds. At night, there will also be the all-important Aurora Borealis hunts that will hopefully lead to a successful viewing of the shimmering, dancing display.

Where to travel to this Christmas

Of course, Lapland is synonymous with Christmas, which is why the majority of our holidays take place here. That is, however, because the Northern Lights call it home just as much as Father Christmas does.

In Finnish Lapland, you could travel to Menesjarvi or Nellim, which both offers untouched snowy landscapes and a plethora of activities. Or you could visit Levi or Saariselkä for the wonderful opportunity to spend the duration of your holiday in a glass-roofed Aurora Cabin and watch the dark Arctic sky from the comfort of your bed.

You could travel to Swedish Lapland where the frozen archipelago and Brändön Lodge’s cosy winter cottages await. Or visit Abisko where you could also add on a night’s stay in the spectacular world-famous ICEHOTEL.

There is also Iceland, where you can discover the main attractions of the ‘land of fire and ice’ including the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon and plenty of Northern Lights hunts.

Whilst the snow-covered scenery of our destinations will tempt you out on sleds and skis, it also makes curling up in front of the fire with a hot drink hugely appealing too. With this in mind, we also offer a range of relaxed Christmas holidays!

Regardless of how active they are, our trips do everything they can to help you seek out the spectacular sight of the Aurora with evening pursuits to vantage points where the sky will hopefully dance above you.

Christmas is a time of festivity, joy and excitement and a trip to our Aurora Zone destinations will offer all of this and more. Click here to view our Christmas getaways.
